Satchel Paige
PERSONAL BRANDING HONOR PROJECT
CARRYING THE GAME FORWARD
The greatest pitcher you almost never knew. For decades, Satchel Paige dominated the Negro Leagues with a legendary fastball and unshakeable confidence. When baseball finally opened its doors in 1948, he showed the world what it had been missing. This project explores and honors his extraordinary legacy.

Young audiences ages 8–25 largely don't know who Satchel Paige is. While Jackie Robinson's name is widely recognized, the broader history of the Negro Leagues remains largely unknown to modern youth. Paige, arguably the greatest pitcher of his generation, spent over 20 years dominating the Negro Leagues before finally reaching MLB at age 42. His story survives mostly in dusty archives and dense statistics that were never designed to reach a 15-year-old.
The Obstacle
Gen Z and young Millennials are deeply drawn to stories of resilience, systemic injustice, and people who defied the odds to create change — they just need those stories delivered in a format that meets them where they are. Satchel Paige's life has everything that resonates with this generation: 20 years denied access, dominance at an age when most careers are over, and a personality so vivid his quotes still land today. The history isn't the problem. The packaging is.
The Read
A contemporary personal brand identity and multi-platform campaign designed to transform Satchel Paige from a historical footnote into an engaging, accessible figure for young audiences. Every touchpoint of the project was designed around a single question: would a 15-year-old stop, engage, and remember this?
